We’re pleased to announce Congressman Bobby Scott as our keynote speaker at the Kennedy-King Dinner on Friday, October 1.
Congressman Scott has represented Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District with distinction since 1993. He serves as a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, and as the Chairman of the important Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee. He also serves on the Budget and Education and Labor Committees. Among many other roles, Congressman Scott is the Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Human Trafficking. and as Co-Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force. Congressman Scott’s home is in Newport News. His congressional district runs in and around the Tidewater region. In addition to his congressional service, Congressman Scott has served in the Virginia State Senate (1983-1993) and as a Member of the House of Delegates (1978-1983). Congressman Scott is a graduate of Harvard University (BA 1969) and received his law degree from Boston College (JD 1973). Congressman Scott continues to lead the House on a number of important issues, including legal services access, fair sentencing, and reduction of youth imprisonment through opportunities, intervention, mentoring and education. Congressman Scott’s bills on these major issues have been co-sponsored by Congressman Moran.
